We deliver the KiVa antibullying programme in our school. KiVa is an evidence based antibullying programme that helps prevent and tackle bullying in schools. KiVa focuses on raising awareness about bullying, building empathy and encouraging students who see bullying (bystanders) to step in and support those being bullied. KiVa is based on three main elements: prevention, intervention and monitoring. It aims to make schools a safe and friendly place for all children. We deliver the Kiva programme in all classes from 1st to 6th class.
All staff in the school are trained to handle bullying cases quickly and effectively. We work to reduce bullying and make sure children feel supported and included. It is all about creating a positive, caring environment where every child can learn, feel happy and make friends.
If you suspect that your child is being bullied this is the what you can do:
Speak with the classroom teacher. They will manage and observe the situation. They will make a referral to the KiVa team if they feel it is necessary.
KiVa Team: If the bullying persists or is serious it is escalated to the KiVa Team. They are specially trained staff members responsible for handling cases using intervention tools and supportive strategies.
School Leadership: If further action is needed or the issue is particularly severe, it is referred to senior management (principal or vice-principal) for more support.
This structured ladder ensures that bullying cases are managed appropriately and escalated to the necessary level of support for effective resolution.
